Computer telephony applications, such as voice mail and interactive voice
response (IVR) which use Dialogic voice processing boards, are often installed
"behind" proprietary PBX or key systems. This type of configuration
can pose some real challenges for a developer in terms of integrating the
application with each vendor's individual PBX or key system. The challenge
occurs because each switch does not always produce standard telephone company
call progress tones such as busy, dial tone, or ringback. (These are the
tones the voice processing system needs to properly perform vital functions
such as transferring or disconnecting a call.) |
